ABOUT US

ABOUT US

In 1988, under the visionary leadership of Dr. Shekhar Y. Bhojraj, the Spine Unit was established at the prestigious KEM Hospital (MCGM), marking a significant milestone in the field of spinal healthcare. Recognising the need to extend this noble endeavour beyond medical treatment, the Spine Foundation emerged as its social arm, dedicated to bringing accessible spinal care to countless lives.

Our mission transcends mere medical intervention; it’s about empowering individuals to reclaim control over their lives. We understand that spinal health impacts every aspect of a person’s well-being, from physical mobility to emotional resilience. Therefore, the Spine Foundation is committed to crafting a narrative of empowerment, resilience, and restored lives.

Established in 1998, The Spine Foundation has continually extended care and treatment to millions. In 2004 We organised our first impactful OPD camp in Gadchiroli, in collaboration with SEARCH, addressing a region in need. Since then, our momentum has only grown, as we expand our operations to various rural regions in India, enabling individuals to rediscover life’s joys.

We’ve also taken steps to reach urban poor by establishing a unit at VN Desai Hospital, bridging the gap for urban underprivileged individuals who cannot afford exorbitant costs have access to high-quality spinal care. Our team of dedicated doctors, professionals, and researchers remains committed to being a beacon of hope, transforming lives through expertise and unyielding commitment.

Each camp is a microcosm of hope, where barriers are broken, stigma is challenged, and lives are transformed. It’s where a simple act of raising awareness can spark a ripple effect of positive change, reaching far beyond the confines of our gathering.

OUR MISSION

In essence, The Spine Foundation is more than just a healthcare provider; we are a beacon of hope for those facing adversity. By offering medical, financial, and holistic support in whatever form necessary, we aim to uplift the lives of the less fortunate and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy, fulfilling life, regardless of their circumstances.

OUR WORK

TRAINING

We offer the Spine Foundation Fellowship to nurture young orthopaedic surgeons to evolve them into skilled spine surgeons. Complementing this, we conduct basic spine workshops to train local doctors.

SPINAL CARE SERVICE

We extend spinal health services to under served areas for those who are devoid of affordable services. We arrange surgical camps at areas where individuals lack the means to address their spinal ailments.

PUBLICATIONS

We engage in research, and publish articles and research papers to disseminate new findings, clinical insights, and innovative methods to help specialists stay updated on the latest developments in the field.
