JOURNEY

As Albert Schweitzer said, “Serving the society as a physician is not only a possibility but a sure-shot venture and a huge opportunity!” Success radiates brighter when it is shared openly, inspiring and uplifting those around us. At The Spine Foundation, we embrace this philosophy wholeheartedly, viewing healthcare not just as a profession, but as a boundless opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

The seeds of our journey were sown by the visionary Dr. Shekhar Bhojraj in 1988, with the establishment of India’s first spine unit at KEM Hospital. Since our inception in May 1998, we have been on a relentless quest for empowerment and hope, tirelessly working towards a future where spinal health and holistic wellness are within reach for all. Our foundation stands firm on three pillars: Empathy, Commitment, and Innovation. These pillars serve as beacons of light, illuminating the darkest nights for millions, reigniting their dreams, and restoring their zest for life. Like the resilient backbone of a healthy human body, we provide stability and support, enabling individuals to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.

At The Spine Foundation, we believe that success is not measured by individual achievements, but by the collective impact we make on the world around us. By sharing our successes openly, we inspire and uplift those in our midst, fostering a culture of collaboration and compassion. As we continue our journey forward, let us remain steadfast in our commitment to serving others, guided by the principles of empathy, dedication, and innovation. Together, let us be a beacon of hope, guiding countless souls towards a brighter, healthier future, where dreams are not just imagined, but lived to the fullest.

TRAINING

The Spine foundation mission is just not limited to treatment and surgery but to create a new movement in affordable public health. We believe that the key to lasting impact lies in empowering others with knowledge and skills, who can take the vision forward. By sharing our expertise, we not only transform individual lives but also build a stronger, healthier future for communities at large. At The Spine Foundation, we are committed to fostering excellence in the field of spinal healthcare. Our training programs are designed to empower, healthcare professionals and young orthopaedic surgeons to help them evolve into skilled spine surgeons.

URBAN HEALTH

Establishing a specialised spine care unit to reach out to urban poor, who constitute a large part of urban population. In the sprawling cities where dreams seem to materialise and prosperity shines like a beacon, there exists an often unseen reality-a stark contrast that we at the Spine Foundation are committed to addressing. We want to extend our healing touch to those who are marginalised, providing spinal care and surgeries free of cost. At the peripheral hospitals in Mumbai, we organise spinal care programs to cater to the specific needs of the local population. These programs are designed to provide comprehensive spinal health assessments and treatments.

While Urban cities symbolise opportunity and advancement, the harsh truth is that countless individuals lack access to essential healthcare services.

We believe that quality healthcare should be a right, not a privilege. The Spine Foundation has performed 1100+ free spine surgeries at V N Desai Hospital, Mumbai transforming lives and restoring their hopes.

In the service of people with accessible and affordable spine care since 2009. At V N Desai Hospital, we are dedicated to serving patients from lower socio-economic backgrounds with significant health challenges that necessitate challenges that necessitate comprehensive medical care. At the hospital, the foundation performs complicated surgeries. Our dedicated team of experts ensures that people in the city have access to comprehensive healthcare services.

RURAL HEALTH

The Spine Foundation is dedicated to making quality spinal care accessible, in remote and under served rural communities. We understand the unique challenging faced by those living in distant regions, where healthcare facilities can be limited. We organise healthcare camps in remote villages, ensuring that individuals in these areas have access to essential spinal health services. During these camps, we provide comprehensive check-ups, diagnostics and consultations, all tailored to assess and address your spinal health needs. We want to ensure individuals, regardless of their location, have access to high-quality spinal care services.

Spine care has long been considered an expensive urban privilege, often out of reach for those in rural areas. The Spine Foundation recognised the profound inequality in access to specialised spinal care, for people at the bottom of the pyramid. It doesn’t just affect the patient’s life, but the lives of family and community as well.
